May 1 ~ Interesting Day

May1

This certainly has turned out to be an interesting day. Starting off waking up in one of the most serene places on earth. I was deep in the Callaghan Valley at the Callaghan Country Lodge. The lodge and scenery is so beautiful.

The day now ends with images and thoughts of war and the 9/11 tragedy. We have learned that Osama Bin Laden had been killed by US Special Forces. A long time coming, but finally tracked him down. Peace would be so much easier. Now the questions of what does this mean are already starting to bubble to the surface. Will there be ramifications ~ yes. When, where and who from – probably nobody knows. Does the world feel safer – well I don’t know but it will be different tomorrow that is for sure.

Today’s event will take some of the steam off of tomorrows Canadian election.  We are now only 5 days from the Whistler Yoga Conference.  There is still time to register. http://whistleryogaconference.com

My Favorite Olympic Videos

February12

I don’t need these videos to remember the games, but they sure do bring to the surface some incredible emotion. Actually as I remember, it is hard to understand the emotion I feel. As Brian Williams says in the lead up to the I Believe Montage below – what a ‘magical 17 days’

Remebering Feb 12, 2010

February12

February 12, 2011…. today I remember back to exactly 1 year ago. As I type this shivers go up my spine. At this moment I was super excited going to my first event of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games – ski jumping. After all, I had been looking forward to this day since Whistler started the most recent and finally successful bid for the games in the late ’90s and then announced in 2003.

The excitement and energy was mind blowing. After the event, while waiting in line for a bus back to Whistler, my twitter stream shared the tragic death of the Georgian Luger (yes that too was exactly one year ago also). As I type this, the shivers in my spine have turned to tears and general sadness for a person I did not meet, know or even knew existed. Then later, the official opening, all I can say is WOW! – modified from the rehearsal I was lucky enough to see to give tribute to Nodar – the start of an incredible 18 day journey. Today I remember!
